"Banksy Doesn't Have Loans"
I had been at Columbia University for 5 months, achieving a 3.6 gpa in the summer and going through the 2nd semester in Fall. By October, I had received Bs in both the lecture and clinical components of the psychiatry rotation and moved onto the pediatric rotation. With the 2nd exam in pathophysiology coming up, I had the pressures of managing both the pediatric rotation, a research class, and the pathophysiology class.
I had met my 2nd cousin through my dad's side Annie Dayoun Kang, who is now an attorney in Seoul, South Korea, and her mom. They had just moved from Long Island to Manhattan.
As far as church was concerned, I tried Emmanuel Presbyterian Church near the 116th subway exit and met Jane Sueyon Moon's college bestie/roommate Tracey Kim (Tae). There, I ran into Janice Chan's older sister Jamie Chan again and some other Asian/Korean Ivy League alumni.
After the 2nd Sunday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, where the father of a Grey's Anatomy character Sarah Drew spoke as a preacher, I decided I was pressed for time on studying for the 2nd patho exam.
Since the start of the program, there had been a Korean girl who gave me the wrong feeling, and she was someone who my brother had friended on FB. Her name was Esther Choi. In the week following my 2nd Sunday at Emmanuel at 121st, I went to a Tuesday evening study session where I saw Esther. I left after attempting to focus in that room unsuccessfully and went back to my room.
I had passed time in my room on Facebook to look up people, some old friends and newer friends who I just encountered. Suddenly on my newsfeed appears a comment "Banksy Doesn't Have Loans" by my brother, which startled me. When I showed up to take the patho exam, I saw Esther Choi running inside laughing in amusement. I clearly hadn't shared the same humor as her as I wasn't in the mood for laughing.
To be continued....
