Reading the book Knowing God

I've attempted many times to read the book Knowing God. Yet again, I'm making another attempt. Hopefully, each read is fruitful and adds to my preexisting knowledge of who God is. As I struggle to find a church at home, I'm reminded by this book of why I'm in continual need to seek out God.

It's been over 10 years since I left Columbia University and returned to the home church ministry VOG. Although it's been that long, I wonder why couldn't the VOG ministry do it's job of compelling to remain a wholesome Christian. I had maintained my Christian integrity up until I left for Columbia University. Even when I was a student at Columbia Uni., I eventually sought out a church. Why is it that as soon as I came home to VOG, I lost interest in all things that a church represents, including Christian integrity and Christian morals?

JJ Packer's book Knowing God is a reminder that God is powerful and merciful. He's also gracious. These attributes of God characterize his ability to redeem us from our darkness and sins and further explains why I need God in my life. His redeeming power saves me from the sinful impurities that exist in my life, both present and past. He work of redemption is truly powerful and mighty.

I made a Linktree acccount. Here is the URL: https://linktr.ee/amandahwang?utm_source=linktree_profile_share&ltsid=ee85d8ad-2e79-4a87-9735-598d688c1805

I want to publicize something. I lived according to the world's definition of ambition and success. After I had the strange encounter with Andrew in Fresno through the VOG ministry, I left for NYC. There, I ran across two more Columbia law affiliates who worked for reputable law firms in NYC. I'm proud to be associated with such success and smartness. But, that's not what God is wanting from his children. He wants his children (us) to love Him wholeheartedly and to worship Him above anything else. I'm seeing a bunch of people from Fresno getting into Ivy League schools, and it's a bit sad. What makes them think they are inadequate if they don't achieve the Ivy League education? It's kind of surprising to me that kids are working as hard as they do these days because they feel inadequate. I feel that we work so hard to receive the world's love unnecessarily so. We already have God's love and God's approval.

I'm dedicating my life from now on to loving God and devoting myself to Him. It's the only way in this God forgotten world.
